Presumptions are all around!

So the other day at the rink, I came out to a note on my windscreen...

"You blocked us in - next time be more courteous!"

The funny thing is, it REALLY bothered me!

Even though I 100% know that I didn't block them in... When I parked I chose my spot deliberately - knowing there's a large bag going in my trunk and I like easy access to get it in and out,  I parked behind someone so that no one would park behind me.

The only thing that I can think of is that THEY also parked behind someone, so when they came out and found themselves in the middle that they presumed the car behind was the offender.

It was early, it's a gravel (spots not defined) lot, and I parked in line with other folks, but all they saw was my car - not the whole line of cars and made a presumption. Maybe they have been blocked in before and have had that experience...

In life, as in software testing, all we have is what's there, but we have to remember to look around, see the whole picture and work out the story and the possibilities.  Presumptions in testing can take us far, but we need to acknowledge that we don't KNOW the order or events or see the whole picture when we do it.

And not leave nasty notes on windscreens ;)...
